ABOUT DR. LUIS VALDÉS
I’m an ophthalmologist specialized in cornea, refractive and cataract surgery, dedicated to helping my patients regain clear vision through safe, personalized procedures such as LASIK, ICL, and cataract surgery, keratoconus treatments among others.
I completed my medical degree at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Professional License: 10389096). Then, I did my Ophthalmology residency at Hospital Universitario from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey (Specialty License: 12551420).
During my residency I did an International rotation at Elza Institute in Zurich with Dr. Farhad Hafezi, expert in keratoconus and pioneer in many of its current treatments. This rotation had a profound impact on me, as I was able to see how we can improve the quality of life of patients with keratoconus by slowing down their disease and restoring their vision with surgery or special contact lenses.
When I finished my residency I did a 2-year fellowship in Refractive Surgery, Anterior Segment, and Cornea at CODET Vision Institute in Tijuana, Baja California with Dr. Arturo Chayet, pioneer in refractive surgery, ICL and cataract surgery in Mexico.
After finishing my fellowship I did a research fellowship at Price Vision in Indianapolis with Dr. Francis Price, pioneer in endothelial corneal transplants.
Afterwards I did an international rotation at Parker Cornea in Birmingham, Alabama in CAIRS surgery for keratoconus.
This background allows me to provide the highest quality of care, combining advanced knowledge with hands-on experience. One of my main priorities is ensuring that every patient feels supported at all times.
That’s why I’ve built a practice that offers personalized attention in both English and Spanish, so you can fully understand every aspect of your diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
